WhatsApp will soon bring better control of new users in groups: if group administrators freely share their group participation links, new participants can join without any intermediate steps – this should change.

WhatsApp is working to make its groups more powerful and versatile for admins to manage. Messenger will soon offer the ability to approve new participants before joining a group, a feature that is still in testing.

Anyone who currently wants to participate in a WhatsApp group and receives a link to participate can join the group immediately, but the admin should be able to enable Share Lock in the future. This feature is being tested in the beta version of WhatsApp for Android 2.22. 18.9, as announced, can be seen from the corresponding screenshot.

The administrator can then confirm or refuse the participation of an individual. If there are several administrators, each can decide whether new participants can participate. Even though the new feature is currently only being tested for the Android version, it should also appear for WhatsApp on iOS and desktop. It’s unclear when the new feature will finally be available to all users. Users may need to be patient for a while.

In a previous post, we mentioned that WhatsApp groups can now grow. Files uploaded by users can now be quite large.
