Aotu Space is back open with a bang, hosting a summer art fair this weekend (July 9-10). After a period of semi-lockdown which, in owner Ray’s own words, was “very very bad”, they can finally open their doors again.

The Summer Art Fair (tickets in advance RMB 20, at the door RMB 30) will have around 50 vendors selling a range of arts, crafts, jewelry, textiles, and to quote Ray even more “goods rich and interesting presentations”. They’ll even have a tarot card reader if you fancy having your future predicted. There will also be plenty of food and drink with some food vendors selling treats including shaved ice and Aotu offering their usual drinks.

This is also not the only event that Aotu Space has planned, they are already looking ahead and have an upcoming event called BXQ2022 Experimental Images Week which will run from July 15th to July 24th. This exhibition will feature works by artists from around the world. , and will see exhibitions, screenings, forums, talks, performances and workshops come together to create an experimental video carnival.

This week-long special event will bring together more than 20 artists and their experimental works, whether photos, videos or installations. According to Aotu’s official WeChat, the works “are derived from experiences found in different cultural backgrounds and are a reflection of our deepest emotions. The works sparked by these unique perspectives inspire us to reflect on our current place in the world as well as what our future holds.

If you can’t attend one of these events or just want to support Aotu after what has been a very difficult time for them, you can also purchase their “Summer Gift Pack” for 298 RMB (original price 600 RMB) which consists of eight coupons. The pack includes a ticket for an Aotu exhibition/show (worth 100 RMB), six cocktails from the full cocktail list (worth 450 RMB) and a non-alcoholic summer drink or coffee ( worth 50 RMB).

Now that’s a bargain, so why not head to Aotu Space this weekend or later this month to enjoy some great art while having a few drinks.
