Celebrate Pride this Labor Day weekend

Atlanta Black Pride has announced a series of events taking place over Labor Day weekend. The inaugural Atlanta Black Pride Weekend Film Festival takes place Saturday, September 3 at IPIC in Midtown; there will be free all-day screenings of independent LGBTQ films such as mixed girl and B-Boy Blues.

A Sunday morning church service in Piedmont Park will be followed by the tenth annual Pure Heat Community Festival. The event will feature market and food vendors, live performers, entertainment, educational forums, prizes and giveaways. Headliners include Joseline Hernandez (“Joseline’s Cabaret”), Kandi Burruss (“Real Housewives of Atlanta”) and Jussie Smollett (“Empire”). Appearances from Saucy Santana, Big Latto, Jhonni Blaze, Jerrie Johnson and Melissa “DJ M” Scott are also on the weekend schedule. Details: thegavoice.com
